Cigar benefit

The Fuentes cigar foundation, The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation announces the celebration of the ?Toast Across America 2004? for 7 October. The foundation has offices in Washington Heights, home to the largest Dominican population abroad, and where the fund-raiser will be held this year. The event brings together over 5,000 cigar enthusiasts, from 50 states, who light up to toast to the DR. The event is the world?s largest cigar toast and is expected to raise over US$300,000 in a day?s time. Over 100 smoke shops in the US participate hosting their individual events leading up to the Toast Across America. Each person who attends receives a commemorative, unreleased CFCF Fuente Opus X Figurado cigar and a Diamond Crown Maximus Figurado. Neither of these cigars are commercially available. A minimum donation of $50 per person is required and all monies collected will be sent to CFCF.

The event, in its second version, will be celebrated at the Dyckman Marina overlooking the Hudson River. Funds raised by the non-profit are invested in social programs in the DR in coordination with the Dominican Institute of Integral Development (IDDI), and helped build a medical facility, school and baseball field in the town of Caribe. ?The CFCF is about the spirit of ?giving back? to the Dominican people. Washington Heights is the heart of the Dominican community in the United States. I can think of no better place to have our headquarters event,? said Carlos Fuente Jr., president of Tabacalera A. Fuente. Neither of these cigars are commercially available.
