After years of debating whether the remains of Christopher Columbus at the Columbus Lighthouse in Santo Domingo were those of the famous admiral, Spanish investigators under Marcial Castro finally accept the truth. The investigators had hoped to prove Columbus was buried at Seville?s cathedral, instead. Now the Spaniards say the most recent investigations have proved that the bones in Spain are too young to be those of the admiral. They now accept these are most probably those of his lesser known son, Diego.
As reported in London?s ?The Guardian,? the exhumation by Spanish anthropologists appears to have settled a row between Spain and the Dominican Republic, which has contested the claim that Columbus’s bones ended up in Seville.?
