New military chiefs

President Leonel Fernandez appointed the Navy?s Admiral Sigfrido Pared Perez as Armed Forces Minister, yesterday. The admiral is the brother of PLD Secretary General Reynaldo Pared Perez. The new minister was deputy minister of the Armed Forces during a past Fernandez term as well as director of investigations of the army.

Other appointees include Vice-Admiral Cesar Augusto de Windt Ruiz as chief of the Navy, Mayor General Nelson Marmolejos Acosta as chief of the Air Force, Major General Jose Ricardo Estrella Fernandez as chief of the Army, General Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez as chief of Police, Major General Manuel Florentino y Florentino as chief of the DNI, the Army?s Major General Ramon Aquino Garcia as chief of military aides and Rear Admiral Ivan Pena Castillo as chief of the Department of Drug Control (DNCD). The Army?s Major General Rafael Ramirez Ferreira is the new director of the intelligence department of the Armed Forces.
