Jazz Festival in Puerto Plata

The Dominican Republic Jazz Festival runs Friday, 22 October through 24 October in the towns of Puerto Plata, Cabarete and Sosua. Puerto Rican flautist Nestor Torres will be playing in Puerto Plata this year, as well as the US?s Steve Khan and Dominicans Guarionex Aquino, Sandy Gabriel, Felle Vega and Patricia Pereyra. The festival?s program opens on Friday, 22 October with a 9pm concert that will be open to the public at Puerto Plata?s Central Park and will feature Puerto Ricans Paoli Mejia and Ramon Vasquez, and the world-renowned jazz guitarist Steve Khan. The Dominican Republic will be represented by the Puerto Plata Jazz Ensemble.

The party continues on Saturday, 23 October at 9pm with a special concert featuring Nestor Torres at the Casa Marina Reef?s amphitheater in Sosua. In addition to Torres, the program will include the performance of the Danzas Mezcladas orchestra, conducted by Dominican percussionist Felle Vega. Those attending will also be able to enjoy the magical sounds of Dominican percussionist Guarionex Aquino. The entrance fee for this concert is RD$300 and tickets can be purchased directly at the amphitheater?s entrance.

The DR Jazz Festival closes on Sunday, 24 October at Sea Horse Ranch with an improvised jazz session at 5pm featuring local blues singer Patricia Pereyra and the Oscar Micheli Trio.
