President Leonel Fernandez said he has plans to bring the last two Beatles to perform in the Dominican Republic. He spoke of Paul McCartney and drummer Ringo Starr, the world?s greatest rock ?n roll drummer, as reported in El Caribe. President Fernandez made the announcement when participating in last Tuesday?s British Chamber of Commerce luncheon where he proved the era of bilingualism was here by reading a 22-minute speech on investing in the Dominican Republic in the English language to a bilingual business audience. A mission of visiting British businessmen was attending, hosted by the Chamber and UK Ambassador in the Dominican Republic, Andy Ashcroft.
During his talk, the President also addressed the accelerated appreciation of the Dominican peso. He mentioned that the goal of his administration is that the exchange rate stabilize at a competitive and balanced level that does not affect tourism, free zone or exports, but that will neither affect the poor of the country.
