Quirino and Pepe: “Birds of a feather?”

The district attorney for Santo Domingo revealed that accused drug lord and former Army captain, Quirino Paulio Castillo bought a helicopter from colonel Pedro Julio Goico (a.k.a. “Pepe”) who worked as the advance security man for former President Hipolito Mejia and was accused of responsibility in the bank scandal that resulted from his use of unlimited credit cards from the collapsed Baninter. According to Jose Hernandez, Paulino Castillo bought a Colibri helicopter from Goico (that had been purchased with the use of the so-called PepeCard unlimited credit card), and later sold it to purchase a new one for US$1,700,000. One of Paulino Castillo’s sons piloted a second helicopter. Both have been seized by the authorities.
