The underdog team, the Gigantes del Cibao defeated the powerful Aguilas Cibaenas in their home stadium yesterday in an exciting game that ended 7-6. Jose Reyes (New York Mets) hit the single that brought in two runs in the second half of the seventh inning to propel his team to the lead. The Giants had started ahead in the fifth inning with a home run with one on base by Pedro Feliz (San Francisco Giants). But the Aguilas brought in four runs, including one by Miguel Tejada (Baltimore Orioles), in the first half of the seventh inning to lead the game, 6-5.
The round robin continues today with the Gigantes matching the Licey at the San Francisco de Macoris stadium, and the Estrellas going against the Aguilas in the Santiago stadium.
