Alliance for sustainable tourism

Counterpart International, the Washington D.C.-based international development organization, has joined hands with the Dominican Republic’s Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (FUNGLODE) with a two-year agreement to develop projects using sustainable tourism
and community development to reduce poverty. The agreement, signed last week in the Dominican capital, focuses on youth and media training, biodiversity conservation and economic development. Both organizations agreed to exchange information and specialists, organize and conduct conferences, seminars, and workshops and mutually agreed fundraising efforts. The agreement was signed by Counterpart’s President Lelei LeLaulu, and Director General of FUNGLODE Frederic Emam-Zade, along with Natasha Despotovic, FUNGLODE’s Executive Director. FUNGLODE was founded by the President of the Dominican Republic, Dr. Leonel Fernandez, who was present at the ceremonies.
