The Aguilas Cibaenas, the Santiago home team, classified for the Dominican Winter Professional Baseball League championships last night at their home stadium when they defeated the Gigantes del Cibao 9-4, thanks to homeruns batted in by Alex Fernandez, Alexis Gomez and Luis Polonia. Jose Lima was the winning pitcher, and Aquilino Lopez the loser.
All appears that they will face the Licey Tigers, who last night defeated the Estrellas Orientales 2-0, thanks to excellent pitching by Manny Aybar. The Licey won thanks to a homerun by Eric Byrnes in the third inning.
