The Aguilas Cibaenas swept the first victory in the winter professional baseball championship final under way at the Santiago and Santo Domingo ballparks. The Aguilas defeated the Licey Tigers 14-4 yesterday at the Santiago Cibao Ball Park to a full house. The Aguilas batted for 12 home runs in the 7th inning. The Aguilas had won the regular series and the round robin. The games are expected to continue to attract full-house crowds, as the two teams are considered archi-rivals.

The Licey Tigers have been national baseball champions on 18 occasions, and the Aguilas 17 times. Since 1952, on the 15 occasions these two teams have reached the playoffs of the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball Championship, the Licey has won nine times.
