Dominican baseball superstar Sammy Sosa has moved from the Chicago Cubs to the Baltimore Orioles, it was officially announced yesterday. In a press conference at his new stadium, Camden Yard, the 36-year old Sosa declared: “I spent 13 years in Chicago, and they were some of the best years of my life. It was a beautiful experience for my wife and my family. I’ll always carry Chicago in my heart, but now I’m here in Baltimore, in my new house”. The Cubs will pay $12m of Sosa’s $17m salary for the current year, as well as a $3.5m severance agreement under the terms of the transfer. The Orioles are paying the remaining $5m of his salary for this coming season, and a $4.5 million buyout of the option for the 2006 season.
