RD$19 billion package of projects

During last night’s meeting of the Government Council, RD$19 billion worth of projects were approved. Public Work projects, water projects and a national plan to asphalt highways were approved. Among the specific projects approved were the highway between Barahona, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana and Las Matas de Farfan. Seventy-four aqueducts, community technological centers in each province, the central park project in Santiago which will put to use the space occupied by the old airport and the overpasses (fly ways) at Los Alcarrizos and near the intersection of Bartolome Colon and Estrella Sadhala (Hache) in Santiago.

For the health sector, the Council approved the unit for the care of premature babies at the Altagracia Maternity Hospital. Santiago also got approval for finishing the northern by-pass (Avenida de Circunvalacion). The bridge at Helechal on the San Francisco de Macoris-Nagua highway will be rebuilt and the repairs needed of the Duarte Bridge will get another RD$497 million.
