Child Safe Products, the US contractor for the controversial construction of 115 mult-iuse covered sports installations and other works, says they have completed the installation of 68 of the facilities nationwide. The company was awarded a US$56.9 million loan from the All First Bank of Baltimore, with the guarantee of the US export promotion agency Eximbank. Child Safe Products held a press conference yesterday to announce they are still in business, after being questioned by the governmental Department for the Prevention of Corruption. Panamanian engineer Manuel Arias said they are working now with Sports Minister Felipe Payano, and are fulfilling the contract signed with the government. The loan also included US$150,000 paid by the Dominican state for the creation of a non-profit organization. The governmental corruption office is investigating the operations of the company.
