Asking for proof of corruption

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Jorge Subero Isa, speaking to more than 300 students from 14 schools at an event to honor patriot Juan Pablo Duarte yesterday, challenged Dominicans to present proofs of alleged acts of corruption by Dominican judges, as reported in Diario Libre. “When people say that the judiciary is corrupt, nobody dares to point to those that are corrupt,” he told his audience. “There is talk that Dominican justice is bad and corrupt, and also that are youth are bad and corrupt,” he said. He added that in regards to the judiciary, absolutely nobody contributes the proof of this, falling many times into complicity. Lawyer Leila Roldan, a frequent critic of the performance of the Dominican judiciary, has compiled a list of occasions when citizens and even foreign diplomats have indeed pointed to questionable performance of the Dominican judiciary.
