President Leonel Fernandez will open the First Congress on Santo Domingo 2015, an event that seeks to take a futuristic look at where the city is headed and where it should be headed. The event will take place 16-18 March in the capital city.
Speakers at the event will include New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Luis Galladon of Madrid, and Alfonso Vegara, the president of the International Society of City and Regional Planners and Fundacion Metropolis.
Also scheduled to attend is a delegation from the Union of Iberoamerican Capital Cities (UCCI).
The event is to be sponsored by the municipal government of Santo Domingo and Mayor Roberto Salcedo is the prime organizer. The conference will examine city problems over the next ten years and will aim to provide adequate solutions. It will address matters such as civil security, urban mobility, commercial competition and other topics.
