Diario Libre’s back page editorial today comments that the opposition is making notes on the performance Fernandez government for when the time is right to use them against the government. “In its inaugural speech, the government spoke of austerity, which has been lost over the months due to excess job appointments, both in the country and abroad; frequent trips of the head of state, but also of his officers and public works that are described as mega projects,” comments the newspaper. “Nobody has been able to explain this change in things, but the governments’ adversaries are making notes and surely these will be used when election time comes around.”
The editorialist comments that the unbridled spending of several departments is being observed, excess job creation and purchasing. Specifically mentioned is the rumor that in one government department 12 luxury SUVs were purchased without even a tender.
“Now that the Commission for National Ethics and Fighting Corruption has been sworn in, is time to look within, because authority is greater when it is of a moral kind, and moral authority can only happen when there is no discriminating when judging facts and behaviors,” concludes the writer.
