Alias Sam Goodson, who has been mentioned in the case for fraud against the state for the billionaire purchase of vehicles supposedly to improve transport in the Dominican Republic, arrived yesterday. El Caribe reports that he was received by his lawyer, former National Police consultant on the new Penal Code, Felix Damian Olivares. Olivares is also legal counsel to accused drug smuggler, Quirino Paulino Castillo. Olivares said that his client had come voluntarily as he has not been requested for the in depth hearing of the case.
Olivares defended his client. He told El Caribe newspaper: “He is innocent and we stand by that. He pacted and fulfilled a commercial transaction within an official program for the public transport sector, and now, despite having sold these at the better price and having sold the better equipped vehicles, comes before accusations that are unfounded.”
An audit carried out by the Controller General’s office during the government of former President Hipolito Mejia showed major irregularities in the Plan Renove.
