Audit to the Armed Forces

The Chamber of Accounts, the body in charge of auditing government institutions, released first findings of an audit to the Ministry of Armed Forces, as reported in Diario Libre. The audit indicates that the ministry violated its statutes and by-laws, general accounting procedures. The ministry discounted 5% a month from all suppliers, and an additional 2% to active military staff. Also questions the issuing of a check for RD$3.7 million in favor of Isofoton, as counterpart for an electrification project for military frontier posts.
