Final preparations are advancing for the celebration in Santo Domingo of the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE 2005). Around 300 major tour operators and travel press will be joining local hoteliers in the leading hotel booking event. The Hotel V Centenario InterContinental is headquarters for the event that will take place 6-8 April and is organized by the Association of Hotels of Santo Domingo and the National Hotels & Restaurants Association. DATE opens on Wednesday, 6 April with an evening of the arts set within the gardens of the National Theater. Dinner under the stars seeks to introduce the VIP visitors to Dominican gastronomy, one of the high points when selling Santo Domingo. On Thursday, 7 April the city has planned a Dominican Night for the Ozama Fort grounds, with folklore, and carnival presentations from all around the country.
