First Lady Margarita Cedeno accompanied President Leonel Fernandez to Madrid earlier this month, but had her own agenda. During her stay in Madrid, she signed a donation of EUR600,000 with the Community of Madrid to benefit poor families in Boca Chica and El Seibo. The funds will go to a program to benefit women living in farming areas in El Seibo, the second poorest province in the country. Likewise, funds will also be used for projects that seek to generate revenues for mother, youths and vulnerable adolescents in Boca Chica. Beatriz Elorriaga, minister of social affairs and cooperation of the Comunidad Autonoma de Madrid, signed for Spain. The First Lady also received a donation from Madrid of 10,000 copies of El Quixote to be distributed to public school students.
