President Leonel Fernandez was in Santiago yesterday to witness the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Public Health and the PUCMM university of Santiago. The university commits to manage four public health centers located in Santiago (Bella Vista, Cienfuegos, Ensanche Libertad and Monte Adentro). The PUCMM already manages the Centro de Atencion Primaria Juan XXIII, a primary care health center in the Pekin area of Santiago, and the Pan American Health Organization and the Interamerican Development Bank has praised the effort as a model inner-city health center. The PUCMM took over the center from the start and there has been staff stability. The centers are managed under the program known as Redes Solidarias de Servicios de Salud de Santiago (REDSOLISS).
