Central Bank denies CD bust

The vice governor of the Central Bank, Clarissa de la Rocha denied an item featured in Hoy newspaper, covered yesterday in DR1 Daily News, whereby the last three auctions of certificates of deposit in the Central Bank have been declared vacant. She said that only in the case of the 30 March auction, when RD$9.2 billion sought to be invested, placements were not made because rates were below the expectations of the Central Bank. She said that for the auction of 22 March there were placement offers for RD$6 billion and RD$845.9 million was invested; the demand for the 6 April auction was RD$12.6 billion and placements were made for RD$5 billion.
