DR & ECLAC sign a deal

The Dominican Government and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) have signed a deal whereby the Dominican government will produce a prospectus for the Dominican Republic 2025-2030. According to the Listin Diario, the information was released by the head of the National Planning Office (ONAPLAN) Guarocuya Feliz. The prospectus will be a synthesis of the National Development Plan. Feliz spoke out at a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo that included leading members of the national business community. Feliz told his audience that the biggest challenge to the country’s efforts is to assure that the country’s public policies provide opportunities for the population which will be the basis for a good government. The president of the Chamber, Jose Manuel Armenteros, said that one of the most important priorities in the short and medium haul was the solution to the energy crisis. Feliz also talked about the need for a new tax reform package and the reformation of governmental areas such as budget, treasury, government purchases and accounting.
