Campaign promises

El Caribe newspaper today highlights that one of National District (Santo Domingo) Mayor Roberto Salcedo’s campaign promises was to fight for a code that would guarantee that whom has a house not suffer from the erecting of a building beside it. It points out that 10 days ago, Salcedo, now three years into the post, has instead announced the naming of a commission that will create the rules for what he now calls the irreversible authorization of erecting of towers in Bella Vista, Naco, Piantini areas, where there are still single home units. “It is that one thing is the campaign, and another the practice,” reports El Caribe. The newspaper also points out promises made by the mayors of the eastern, northern and western municipalities of the Province of Santo Domingo and that the incumbents have abandoned after being elected. The newspaper points out that none of the mayors submitted government programs and just delivered promises.
