President Leonel Fernandez revoked the ruling that would have restricted news and information broadcast by radio and TV that he had signed on 7 May. President Fernandez, prior to leaving for California for the unveiling of a statue to baseball hall of famer Juan Marichal, issued Decree 312-05 that revokes the Comision de Espectaculos Publicos ruling 301-05. Legal advisor Cesar Pina Toribio assumed the responsibility for the preparation of the document that met with immediate opposition from the press. He took full responsibility for the document. He said, the document was presented to the President due to his excess of confidence in his assistants. The President signed also, trusting his track record as a collaborator, he explained. He announced that a commission would be formed to revise the ruling.
