Banco Popular sold 70% of its shares in Multimedios del Caribe to a group of Santiago businessmen members of the Asociacion para el Desarrollo de Santiago, head by Felix Garcia (Grupo Linda) and Manuel Estrella (Aceros Estrella). Multimedios owns El Caribe newspaper, Cadena de Noticias (CDN TV, Channel 37), and the radio stations Super Mix FM and La Mezcla AM. Banco Popular made the announcement. Multimedios del Caribe announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with the School of Communication of the PUCMM for improved training of journalists.
This is the same group of people that built the Cibao International Airport and recently received a US$25 million injection of capital from the government to complete the Santiago HOMS advanced medicine hospital.
