DR wins prize in arts and crafts fair

The Dominican Republic stand at the Foire de Paris, a leading European arts and
crafts fair held in the Porte de Versailles exhibition hall of Paris won first
prize in the category Tropical Lands Pavilion last week. The Dominican stand
covered 150 square meters and the theme was a Dominican village, with Victorian
houses from where 12 Dominican artisans exhibited their crafts and a Dominican
restaurant offered Dominican culinary delicacies. The Ministry of Tourism
reported that the Dominican stand was the most voted by those who visited the
trade show. Among the participants were: Manuel Gomez Bolos (Arte Bolos),
Ramieses Nelly (Amborigena), Rosanna Antigua (ArtWork), Cristina Nunez (Xthina),
Ramon Guillen (Nonu Guey), Miguel Pimentel (Formato), Miguel Estrella (Talleres
Estrella), Ana Josefa Sanchez (Puerto Plata Amber Museum), Celina Sosa
(Arelisa), Jorge Caridad (Santo Domingo Amber Museum), Juan Puello (Artesania
Puello) and Rafael Alba (Modus).
An estimated one million people visited the fair that showcased arts and crafts,
music, dance and gastronomy from around the world during its 12 days of
exhibits.
