Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez has made a strong attack on several media communicators who according to him have made vulgarity, abuse, insolence, disrespect and slander normal practice in their media programs. “It is sad and shameful to hear foul and provocative language from certain persons that do so on radio and TV and there are also unscrupulous persons that use Internet pages for all that their distorted intelligence and lack of ethical principles allows them to think of,” said the head of the Roman Catholic Church in the DR. He urged Dominican social communicators to revise what the Dominican people have had to tolerate from some of their colleagues. “Self-criticism is called for here, we call it a looking within our conscience to see the good we have and make the most of this, and call out to those that are on their own and do not want to submit to any rules to use the intelligence that the Creator has given them,” he stated as part of his address to a conference on responsibility of social communicators, sponsored by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel).
