The United States has requested the extradition of Police lieutenant colonel Nin Terrero who was arrested while traveling in a truck confiscated by US Drug Enforcement Administration and National Department of Drug Control agents with 1,387 kilos of cocaine on 18 December, as reported in Diario Libre. He is sought in the case that is being heard in a New York City court. Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito said that for the latter to be extradited the Dominican government needs to withdraw its initial charges against Nin Terrero, who is currently in Najayo jail. This has already happened in the case of Quirino Ernesto Paulino Castillo, leading to his extradition earlier this year.
Dominguez Brito said that brothers Luis David and Jean Paul Ulloa (alias Los Mellizos – “the twins”) arrested as part of the investigation into Quirino and his accomplices, will depart voluntarily to stand trial given that they are US citizens.
