PRD convention

The Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD held its convention on Sunday, but so far no results have been released to the press. In Santiago and several other places there were some logistical difficulties, but in general, the voting for new party posts went off with no major problems. According to the El Caribe, voting was halted or did not get started in eight locations: Santiago region I, San Pedro de Macoris, Castillo, Nagua, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Santo Domingo East, Bahoruco, Neyba, and Zone H-6 in the National District. Former Vice-President Milagros Ortiz Bosch, coordinator of the event said that it had been very successful. Results are expected to become available today, but complementary elections for tables where voting couldn’t be held (an estimated 8% of the vote) need to be scheduled, as reported.
