RD$4.5 billion for UASD

The director of the Office of Supervisory Engineers of the Presidency, Felix Bautista has announced that his office has been put in charge of supervising the construction of new works and remodeling at the state university (UASD), the Palacio de Bellas Artes (housing the national ballet, and the art and folklore schools) and the National Archives, at a cost of RD$4.5 billion. The works include RD$650 million to build eight buildings in Hainamosa, in the Eastern Santo Domingo municipality, where a community college serving up to 6,200 students will be built. As reported in Hoy, the Fernandez administration has also given top priority to the construction of a RD$800 million six-level technology center at the UASD, which will include labs. An administrative building to house the university’s academic and administrative offices will go up at a cost of RD$296 million. The complex also includes the construction of a RD$387 million facility for the cinema, arts and communications schools. The new mess hall for the university will cost RD$110 million and have capacity for 2,500 students. The remodeling of the rectors office and main auditorium will cost RD$125 million. These works have been awarded without tenders.
