Cabarete welcomes PKRA World Cup

The PKRA Kiteboarding World Cup 2005, sponsored by Presidente Beer, opens Wednesday, 22 June in Cabarete, Puerto Plata, with 100 contenders from 30 countries, a record number of participants. There is lots of excitement for the event that brings together the best kiteboarders of the world. In its sixth year, the event is the third of six stops of the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association 2005 World Tour. Cabarete is popular because of its great evening beach parties that are a major plus to the equally well-known great beach and natural wind conditions. Those that can make it this week to Puerto Plata should. See the highest air and the latest tricks while competitors go for $36,000 US dollars in prize money. Event organizer Lorenzo Sancassani said that the event was followed on TV by an estimated audience of 300 million persons. It is transmitted by Fox, ESPN and Eurosport.
