President Leonel Fernandez is scheduled to head the groundbreaking ceremony for the mega-project to be developed on the mouth of Ozama River and part of the Malecon next Wednesday, 29 June 29, as reported in Diario Libre. The project will be developed by Inversiones Turisticas Sans Souci, a company presided by Lisandro Macarrulla, with an initial investment of RD$400 million. The development will build malls, high-rise apartments, hotels, and a marina. The entire project is expected to take seven years to complete. The new structures are aimed at making Santo Domingo a more attractive destination for large cruise ships.
