The Professional Kiteboard Riders Association Kiteboarding 2005 World Cup, in its third year in Cabarete, ended successfully on Sunday, with even President Leonel Fernandez showing up. Thousands flocked to the Cabarete beach strip to watch the day action and participate in the night. Aaron Hadlow, from the UK, won the maximum honors, confirming his position as top ranked kiteboarder in the world. Second place went to Pedro Rui Meira, from Portugal, and third place to Etienne Lhote from France. In the women?s division, German Kristin Boese was the winner, seconded by Brazilian Bruna Kajiya and Ania Grzelinksa, from Poland. Dominican contender, Susanne Mai was fourth. Competitors came from 30 countries, including Australia, Denmark, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Chile, the UK, Italy, Spain, United States, France, Venezuela, Poland, Argentina, Portugal, Israel, Japan, Colombia, Guadaloupe, Czech Republic and Canada, among others.
