Launching an advertising campaign

The Ministry of Tourism launches its advertising campaign in the US and Canada in a presentation at the Hotel Embajador today. Tourism Minister Felix Jimenez told Listin Diario that his department has invested US$4.8 million in advertising in the United States and Canada from August 2004, when he was appointed. He explained to the Listin Diario that the funds were invested in contingency campaigns in agreement with the tour operators and airlines, and in a direct radio, TV and print campaign. As of 30 June, the government had invested in the US US$1,757,401 in advertising. Tour operators received US$700,000 for backing Ministry of Tourism campaigns.

He said the Ministry invested US$650,039 in promotion in Canada, including US$334,250 to Canadian tour operators for their marketing campaigns. Jimenez said the campaigns will continue through the winter.
