The DR1 Weather Forum is alerting readers to closely monitor Tropical Storm Emily, the fifth named storm so far this season, that is strengthening, as reported in the 11 am by NOAA. The center of the storm is located near 11.0 North and 51.3 West, 575 miles (925 kms) East-SouthEast of Barbados and is moving to the west near 20 mph or 32 kms/hr. What is important for the DR is that a turn to the West-Northwest is expected during the next 24 hours. The forum says that is the turn that needs to be watched, despite it is still early in the development of this storm. The forum reports that Emily definitely has the potential to become a hurricane that would affect the island.
