Good year for Sosua and Cabarete

Xiomara Desimone, executive director of the Association of Hotels & Restaurants
of Sosua and Cabarete, reports that while 2004 was a very good year for area
hotels, 2005 will be even better. She points out that hotel occupancy ranged
from a minimum 71.16% to a max of 93.09% with an annual average of 80.87% in
2004.
So far this year, the Association is reporting average occupancy of 87.37%. She
points out that occupancy increases have been consistent so far. “This means
that we are achieving our main goal of repositioning the area of Sosua and
Cabarete both at a national and international level.”
Desimone expects that the repaving of the Maimon-Rio San Juan highway will
contribute to record arrivals in 2005.
