Long lines for driving stickers

As is common among Dominicans, as the deadline for renewing license stickers for motor vehicles approaches, the lines at Tax Department (DGII) express centers become longer and longer, Diario Libre reports. The deadline is Wednesday, 3 August and the DGII has said there would be no extension – latecomers will have to pay an additional RD$300 and risk having their vehicles impounded by the Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET), whose agents have been instructed to do so. The stickers cost RD$1,200 for vehicles up to 2000, and RD$2.200 for vehicles from 2001 or newer.
