During raids conducted yesterday in the Los Coquitos, Los Mameyes and Villa Duarte sectors of eastern Santo Domingo, 117 people were arrested and five pistols, seven knives, four automobiles, 16 motorcycles, six portions of marijuana and two portions of cocaine were seized by the police, as reported last night by police chief Major General Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez. Diario Libre reports that ten of the individuals arrested have remained in prison for their involvement in different felonies. One of these – nicknamed ?the Gorilla? – was wanted by the police for killing former officer Junior Gomares de los Santos. The raids were conducted in coordination with National Drug Control Department (DNCD) agents.
