Diario Libre reports that users of the main road to Santiago, Puerto Plata and the northwestern region of the country ? the Duarte Highway – will have to pay RD$60 for tolls once the new station being built at Ponton, La Vega, starts operating. Half of that amount will be paid by drivers at the Ponton station and the other half will be paid on their way back from Santo Domingo, at the Pedro Brand station. The funds collected by the new toll station will be used to repair and build roads in the northern region of the country. The station will have ten lanes and is due to be completed in two months. It is being built by Caribbean Toll Corporation with a RD$10.8 million budget.
