Since the start of the year, JAB Textile Mills has been turning out fabric to be used in local free zones. The company has installed capacity to produce 200,000 pounds of fabric per week. Manuel Rubinstein told El Caribe that they chose to install their operation in the DR given the political and social stability of the country. He said that materials produced here are used by local free zones and also exported to Haiti and Central American countries. He said in the past, 80% of their production was exported to the DR anyway, so the demand for their production was already here. He explained that geographic location was an important consideration for relocating their production here. They are located in the Global Free Zone at Km. 17 Autopista Duarte, in the Province of Santo Domingo. See http://jabtextiles.com/
