Listin Diario reports on the growing frequency of hold ups in Mirador Sur Park in Santo Domingo. Last Tuesday, a man who was exercising in the park at noon, between Lago Enrqiquillo Restaurant and the Police station, was assaulted by two individuals with knives who threatened to kill him if he did not give up his belongings. They took RD$3,500, a mobile phone, two rings and a watch, before running off. The man immediately went to the nearby police station where he found that due to the officers’ negligence, the robbers, who were on foot, were able to get away. The victim went to Listin Diario to warn other citizens not to frequent that part of the park.
