Last night, President Leonel Fernandez appointed Bernardo Santana Paez as new Chief of Police and Bautista Rojas Gomez as Minister of Public Health. Also appointed were Modesto Guzman to the Dominican Postal Institute (INPOSDOM), former Public Health Minister Sabino Baez at the Dominican Institute of Social Security (IDSS), and Leoncio Almanzar at the Corporation of State-owned Businesses (CORDE). Former Police Chief Manuel de Jesus Perez Sanchez was appointed Police Advisor to the Executive Branch. Other changes include Luis Guzman at the National Budgeting Office, Ruben Pena at the National Treasury, and Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) as advisor to the Executive Branch on Drug Trafficking with the rank of Minister. Fernando Rosa was appointed to the Commission for the Reform of Public Enterprise, retired vice-admiral Francisco Manuel Frias goes to the Port Authority and Luis Tavarez Rodriguez is the new President of the Port Authority’s Administration Council. Jose Francisco Zapata is the new general administrator of the National Aid and Housing Institute (INAVI). The president also appointed Francisco Fernandez and Nelly Perez Duverge respectively as new Consuls in New York and Barcelona.
