The Customs Department has announced that another 13 courier companies will begin to operate according to the regulations of Decree No. 402-05. With this new group a total of 16 private express postal companies which were intervened by the authorities will now have to start operating according to Customs regulations. El Caribe reports that the companies agreed to comply with the regulations as they understand that it forces operations to become more transparent and avoid undervaluation, smuggling and customs fraud. An additional 300 companies that were operating without permits are still being intervened by Customs.
