Dominican Tomas Hungria has been selected to spearhead the first efforts of the Caribbean Spa & Wellness Association (CSWA). He will be the first chairman of the task force team to launch the organization. Tomas Hungria is the Corporate SPA Manager of inSense SPA at Coral Hotels & Resorts in the Dominican Republic. He was chosen during the First Caribbean Spa & Wellness Conference held in St. Lucia 1-4 November. Along with Hungria, Andrew Barnard and Lisa Manser from St. Lucia, Brigit Brin from St. Barth, and Sam Raphael and Sharon Jones from Dominica are part of the organizing board of the newly formed CSWA.
Delegates and presenters from more than ten Caribbean nations participated in the event and listened to presentations by experts from the United States, Europe and the Caribbean. Spa & Wellness trends in North America, Asia and Europe were discussed.
The event was sponsored by the Center for the Development of Enterprises, part of the European Union organization. The hosts of the First Caribbean SPA & Wellness Conference were Mara Jane Caudron, coordinator, Denzil Phillips, consultant and Paolo Lamin, Caribbean representative of the CDE.
The Second Caribbean SPA & Wellness Conference is already being planned for the first week of November 2006 in the Dominican Republic.
