Fraud detected at naval shipyard

Fraud against the Dominican state was detected by the General Accounting Department in a contract for the repair and operation of the naval shipyard at Las Calderas, Bani. The case, which was sent to the Attorney General’s Department, involves three companies contracted for the repair and operation of the DF-1 floating dock at Las Calderas Naval Base, according to a report in Listin Diario, which obtained copies of the file. The Accounting Department found that there is criminal responsibility on the part of representatives of Ciramar S.A., Ciramar International Trading, Co. LTD, and Anabalca. It ordered the Armed Forces Ministry to cancel the contract signed by the state and the three companies with immediate effect. The Accounting Department is requesting an investigation into activities by Luis Contreras Pena, Luis Contreras Brea, Vanesa Solano and Gerardo Garcia, in their capacities as president, vice president, administrative-financial manager, and comptroller, of CPA Consulting and Anabalca, respectively.
