On Monday the US dollar was selling at RD$35.50, a higher quote compared to closing last week at RD$34.50. According to El Caribe, the last time the US currency reached this level was September 2004. Yesterday, the banks were buying the dollar at RD$34.50 and exchange agencies were buying it for between RD$34.25 and RD$34.90. Listin Diario reports that the minimum rate for purchase was between RD$34.80 and RD$35, whereas the Central Bank rate was RD$34.70. The Euro was selling for RD$41.00 whereas last Friday it sold for RD$40.50 and RD$40.75. The purchase rate for the Euro remained stable at RD$39.50.
