24 hour patrols

The government’s Democratic Security Plan is providing 24 hour patrols in 12 of the more populous and contentious barrios of Santo Domingo. The aim is to reduce the level of delinquency and crimes within this area. The new commander of the Preventive Police, general Raudo Ramirez Comas, told reporters that his force was designed to be one of the supports for the Democratic Security Plan and bring peace and security to the barrios. Chief of Police, Santana Paez, assigned five SUVs to the area as part of the government’s plan to create “Safe Barrios” for its citizens. According to general Ramirez Comas, the Police have identified 12,000 agents that are apt for service in crime prevention, working with the community leaders.
