Gasoline fallout

As of yesterday afternoon, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce had sent 269 orders for reimbursement to the Dominican Refinery (Refidomsa). Each case was presented individually, and the costs varied betweenRD$3,500 and RD$90,000. According to the ministry’s press office, a total of 211 cases had been sent to Refidomsa by 3 pm yesterday. All of these cases involved damaged fuel pumps in the vehicles. Of the 211 cases received, 153 had been forwarded to the refinery for reimbursement of the expenses incurred in the repairs. Another 158 cases were being finalized to be sent to the refinery between yesterday and today. The press officer for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce told Hoy reporters that reports were coming in from the provinces, and that on Monday 200 new cases were reported to the Legal Department of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The Legal Department is working quickly to process each case and send it on to the refinery for evaluation and reimbursement. The press release from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce urges any claimants turn in their papers to the Legal Department of the ministry. The claimants must include a photocopy of the vehicles registration papers and the original receipts or price quotations for the repairs.
