36 political parties await recognition

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) will study the applications for the recognition of 36 political parties and movements today, although none complies with conditions required by the law to contest the elections next May, according to Listin Diario. The organizations do not meet the required minimum numbers of offices, members, and organizational structures in all the country’s provinces and municipalities. Of the 36 groups, those closest to complying with requirements are the Popular Reform Party (PRP) presided by Agriculture Minister Amilcar Romero; Liberal Action Party (PAL), led by Maritza Lopez de Ortiz; Dominican Solidarity Party (PSD) by Emilio Concepcion and the National Party of the Dominican Republic (PNRD), led by Jose Santana.
